The head of state also approved legislation allowing military conscription all year round whereas previously it was possible only during restricted intervals in autumn and spring. The government representative stated that the country would not change its international position or its principles in response to irresponsible comments. The Moscow's representation later posted condolences for the passing of a Romanian worker in the collapse but took the opportunity to protest that the critical reaction to the comments was prejudiced toward the federation.
